Who am I?

Jason C. Dibelius is an American commentator, volleyball coach and podcaster. He has spent 25 years coaching at every level – high school, club, NCAA DI through DIII and the professional beach scene. He has also done play-by-play and color commentary for the sport at all the same levels for the better part of a decade. A former college and overseas player, he has found a way to fit other things in between: military service, theatre performance and administration for a cardiology practice.

Brooklyn-born, NYC raised, his family had a heightened emphasis on two educations – urban and academic. His first job was at 14 years-old, assisting his stepfather, a former foreperson at American Ironworks. He was also a part of the prison ministries for a church in Brooklyn, visiting monthly to Rikers Island and Brooklyn house of detention to talk to inmates about ways to turn their lives around.

He served in the United States Army for three years, earning multiple awards, including national defense, overseas service, and the Army Achievement Award for meritorious service.

Winning multiple titles, outstanding player awards and coach of the year awards, he had used that resume to pitch his tent in the South Bay – the hotbed for beach volleyball, his then new-evolution. He has helped turn around programs like LMU’s beach team, Evolution’s club team in Redondo, and put Endless Summer’s beach club over the top, with 13 division I commitments in a 3-year period. He is now a skills coach at Los Angeles Volleyball Club and doing more of the same privately on the professional beach scene, as well as color commentary for various venues.

Dibelius graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2007, earning his degree in a highly competitive, nationally recognized theatre performance program.

In his leisure time, he still enjoys theatre performance. He is also an avid fan of football and mixed martial arts. He takes great pride in his military service and is excited for the next evolution
